How to drill holes in glass jars? Trust me I learned the hard way! Trick is you NEED a Diamond Drill BIT and to follow the rules of how to cut the hole. Depending on the size of your hole you buy the size you need. For cord hole to make jar lights.YOu need to keep your drill bit lubricated while you are drilling, I used a squirt bottle of water, and it took two people to do this,(thanks mom) We filled a dishpan half way with warm water put the jars in the water that we were to drill all but the top of the glass you are drilling, while we were drilling the hole the water was being splashed over the hole and squirted on the drill bit. It didnt chip and it worked very nice, but follow all the directions and make sure you use a DIAMOND DRILL bit. YOu can make your jar lights by using the hole for the cord.To purchase one go to www.DrillGlass.com and please tell them who sent you!
How to grunge stuff? For candle jars and pans I use .. Cinnamon and water based polyurathane. I coat the jar with poly then sprinkle ground cinnamon all over it, let dry and do it again. Its my very own short cut. The best for glass!and non pourous items. You can use modge podge glue instead of the water based poly. If you want a baked on look cover over the second coat with the poly or modge podge, If you want more texture sprinkle a little extra cinnamon on the last coat.
Grunging FabricInstant Coffee and water,to rinse the fabric in to age it, like muslin or homespun. If you want to grub up your fabric gingerbread men. Combine: half cup of instant coffee 3 tablespoons of ground cinnamon 1 tablespoon of vanilla 1 cup of water microwave a few seconds to get it oohy gooey like paste and brush onto your gingers and then bake them in oven to dry, oven on the lowest setting. alterations of this recipe to save money is to use without vanilla .add a teaspoon of elmer glue in its place. You can use less coffee for a lighter color ginger.

STEMS FOR SNOWMEN NOSESSave those pumpkin and squash stems! They make the best snowmen noses, why pay 2.oo for a couple little noses. Simple dry it out stick it in the oven or dehydrator or on your heater a bit. Use the entire stem for large snowmen or save gourd stems or cut the pumpkin and squash stems in peices to make your own shape paint with acrylic burnt orange paint and save them in a jar the paint absorbs so nice and they often have a curl to them anyway.. Go Green the noses are everywhere right now, its fall here in Maine. You may never look at a stem the same again.. Isnt God good!
SAVE YOUR DRYER LINTGo Green with using this to stuff all your craft projects! Need more simply stop at your local laundry mat, they clean there dryers out daily and they could easily fill a garbage bag for you, totally FREE! YOu can make your own paper with this stuff use tacky glue and lots of water, YOu can use this to make paper mache items, Simply mix in a jar seperate tacky glue, white elmers or craft tacky glue with water, thin it out well and depending on how much you will be you want this project -to be fairly thick just enough so the lint will mix with it easily.. the glue to water mostly equal parts. Then add dryer lint to cover it well but not real soupy, wet enough to press into mold or shape. Now the skys the limit with this idea, YOU can press this mixture into your old copper star and round molds you can add some old coffee grounds for texture, you use cookie tart pans to shape little easter chicks, eggs, hearts, snowmen shapes Do you see what I see yet? Now the trick to this stuff is to make it not soo thick that it will never dry well, but with winter months the air is much drier and should dry quickly you can put the project in the oven on the lowest setting to speed the drying up, It wont stick to the pan.. Now you gals please start sending me photos!
How to make those Prim t-light jars? Use a wide mouth jar, now you can either use some primitive tissue paper that already has checks or stars on it Or you can use some plain tissue paper and I will describe how to prim it. Now take your tissue paper and cut it to fit extra all around the wide mouth jar, now when I say wide mouth I mean like all natural pb jar or salsa jar or canning jar wide mouth. YOu will need to have the paper cut to fit just over the edges of the inside of the jar, folded over it and to fit it all around and neatly cover the bottom of the jar, much like wall papering. try it on a bit first, or like wrapping it like a christmas gift not missing any part of the covering the jar but not having too much left over fit. once you have that You will coat the entire jar with modge podge satin, press the tissue paper down all around the jar, trying not to leave too many wrinkles or tear it, fold the edges in over the lip of top of the jar and press down tight ,then the bottom of the jar, press it all in smooth like a package. let dry well, Now you may use a cut out of an old christmas card , a gift tag or paint a cute decor to shine through this t light jar on one side of it. something not too heavy in stock, and decoupage it onto or paint it on. now you can use some rusty wire or black wire to make a handle around the jar and put a peice of homespun for a bow , make sure you have no loose peices of paper inside the jar , and place a lit t light inside and ahhhhhhhhh it glows so beautiful. If you need to darken your white tissue paper, simple take some burnt seinna paint thin it a bit, and rub it lightly all over the jar, wa la its aged. You can use baby food jars and some cute wrapping paper and make mini ones, they are adorable,I've making these for years and everyone loves them. every holiday they can be made and even birthday themes
How to Rust stuff? Do this outside in well ventilated area away from pets children. IN an old container. combine 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 1/2 cup bleach 3 tablespoons of salt and soak items in or spray this on items to be rusted. I have a lot of stuff , daily I have an area outside(the rusting Garden) that I spray the pans and cans with . It does take some time but it starts the process quickly and evenly. this works great for rusting safety pins fast..

How to Make sparkley Jars YOu may be seeing those white glittery jars with santa photos on the front, Well You can make your own, you can buy the exensive kinds of glitter etc they offer, I find the best glitter to be a hollogram like glitter, and look for extra fine glitter it has the same light reflection and qualities as those expensive prim glitters. Simply use the how to paint jar directions, paint it white decopauge your print on it, you can find these on line at place to print your own or use an old christmas card from year before or a family photo ,copy it on your printer in black and white and make it personal, decoupe on front, then simply coat the jar with clear modge podge satin sprinkle with fine glitter, and its sparkley magic.. Blessings
Dont tell God how big your storm and problems are, TEll your problems and storms HOW BIG YOUR GOD IS! There is nothing too big or too small for him.. Give it to him..!

How do you make your signs Look Old?WARNING DISPOSE OF YOUR RAGS PROPERLY, THEY SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST, WE LOST OUR WORKSHOP BECAUSE OF THIS PLEASE... READ AND FOLLOW THE LABELS.. YOUR SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US.. I call it antiquing, and after years of trial and error, and a little help from my friends..... Wich I am paying forward right now.. after your pine wood has been painted, sand the edges off for wear and tear look then cover the entire peice with dark walnut, or special walnut stain. and wipe it all off after. allow to air dry all sides. This unique color and process gives it a blacker tone. If you prefer a warmer color , more red tone over the top, use a different color stain, the black tones are walnut and provincial. it seals and protects for outside use. I do like to use a light coat of water based poly over the top of my lettered signs after it has dried completely, its easier to dust this way..
The Best wood STain REcipe Wow God is soo good to me, I came across this from TWIG thank you! and tweaking mine. ROOFING TAR AND Paint Thinner, a bit of linseed oil if you want to use it to protect the wood. not needed to antique but it does give a nice quality if your not sealing anything and using your wood outside. YUP I took a huge trash can on wheels and mixed me up a couple gallons and wow our signs go much faster now! I simple mixed the roofing tar about a cup to one gallon of paint thinner/or mineral spirits mix well and ad a bit of linseed oil I use this sparingly because of its combustion materials... with the mix about a quart to 3 gallons of this mixture. and I have enough stain for this season.now of course for your home you can downside the recipe but gives you an idea what to do with that stuff you have out back of the shed, or you seen some at the dump or your neighbors or friends, use it for stain mix. Its wonderful and lower odor then tradional stain. easy to dunk the wood into and let excess run off into your trash can cover then wipe well. allow these to air dry several days before taking to shows or in your home, they are smelly like all kinds of stain.
How to Make PriMitive Sock Snowmen~
Like these guys...
These are made out of boys cotton socks, I simply put an elastic band on the top of the sock where the elastic lines are to keep the tea dye(instant coffee) from going on the elastic part and visa versa, I did use some black walnuts that mom brought from alabama for the tops to dye them, black I had two buckets one for the black dye and one instant coffee dye, thats how I colored them, allow to drip each end dry.. then stuff with your dryer lint, or stuffing, use those pumpkin, gourd stems you saved off the pumpkins paint them and simply hot glue them , use black pony beads for eyes, they are shiney and look so alive, the hole side not to see.. use the side, I used a little real blush for cheeks, and some I did eye brows, some not, I made a hang tag to make them different and greet guests to hang on the door knob or enterance, I also used some emergency candles recipe on this page, to dip them and tucked those in under his scarf, tie the top of the sock with some jute, be sure not to stuff them all the way, now, tuck these into your wreaths, make special tags for personalized gifts, scent them with oil, put some in a basket with greenry and lights and adorable centerpeice.. NOw save any of the socks you didnt get done because I will have an excellent bunny one for you, and mammy and the list goes on... Have fun and be SURE To pass to share...... INSPIRE others.. as you all do ME.. Happy Crafting.. YOu aint seen NOTHING YET!!

Make your own fake snow Save your sawdust! fine sawdust mixed with off white paint, its easy as that!Any acrylic paint, mix it up with the saw dust in an old jar or can with lid, so you can save the un used amount for the next prim project. This makes the best texture for painting snowmen, sheep and if you want to make a textured gingerbread men, you can use brown paint and add sawdust. Heres a really inexpensive gift idea anyone can make and its a Show stopper! Use an old peanutbutter jar. paint the entire jar including the bottom with the sawdust paint, paint the lid of the jar, with black spray paint. When its good and dry, make two big eyes and a big nose and mouth . You have yourself a snowman head jar,YOu can use a peice of wire to make a handle on the black lid to hang, this makes awesome gifts. It makes wonderful shelf sitter, use different size jars.Use this same idea for a gingerbread man use brown paint, same idea for a Jacko, lantern, use burnt orange paint and saw dust, and paint up any old containers around.. Paint a Raggedy head.. Use a regular canning jar base coat black. Use the fake snow for a sheeps body, on the front of jar, to make a vase for dried flowers, or a votive candle holder. Use the saw dust and some honey brown paint to paint a star on the front of the jar, to make it look like a rusty cut out on the glass.
HOW TO Paint ON JarsWash Glass well.YOu can lightly sand the entire peice with a fine sanding paper for the best adhesion, but its not necessary. I prefer to use a water based acrylic, because of the low fumes, The easiest way is to simply spray paint a few coats on the jars with a good quality spray paint, I must say when it comes to spray paint and crafting dont chose the cheap kind unless its clear coat all others I recommend name brand every time. I simply use my craft paints, several coats, let them dry very well in between coats, after you have painted your base coat and your design, star, sheep , snowmen, hearts, you can seal it with a clear coat spray, or you can seal it with modge podge or any clear satin top coat . These make the best candle holders, get a votive holder to fit in the top of the jar and tie a peice of homespun around the neck, make a nice hang tag to match your painted design and these make nice centerpeices as well.NO secret paint ... your choice of either kind.

Saltdough Ornie Recipe
2 cups flour 1 cup salt 1/2 cup water Mix well roll out cut into any shape you want. dry in the lowest setting on your oven, both sides . Paint Use the texture paint and round cookie shapes , jackolantern ornies, snowmen, gingers, sheep , stars.. To create a nice finish and seal the painted ornies. Use a satin modge podge, or any spray sealant from craft stores. To make those ornies that look like cinnamon buns. Simply cut rolled dough into strips, sprinkle cinnamon on the top, roll it up. Dry the buns well in dehydrator or in lowest setting possible oven. A good 4 hours or more. You can seal with a modge podge for a nice sheen or Use some parrafin wax , cinnamon oil and dip them into the wax for a yummy smell and unique look. Use any paraffin wax that you make chocolates with.. If you would like a drizzle sugar glaze look after it has been either sealed or dipped YOu can purchase WHITE GLUE sticks for your hot glue gun and drizzle it over the top .. OR even cheaper, use a stark white paint. drizzle just like you would melted chocolate.
How to grunge candles?
This is a wax dipped look. You can either use the grunging recipe with poly and cinnamon to build it up with several coats. Or you can use this On those cheap large pillars, or votives or tapers. If you want just a thin coating to color it and give it a warm glow look. Melt any parrafin wax from craft store or grocery store. Its best to use a double boiler method, If you do not have one, use an old coffee can to melt in, and a fry pan with some water in it, heat the water up set the coffee can in the water to melt. This is very messy, get out the freezer wrap or wax paper put it on your counter top, this you can use to check the color of your wax by dripping it on the wax paper by the drops and it you can re use any spilled peices that have hardned. For color use a burnt seinna crayon, You may need several of these so its time to call your friends, volunteer at sunday school to get the crayon peices.. Its a nice warm brown color .. Now mix your wax with the brown crayons , add a little of each at a time, stir with some plastic silverware, and to check the color drop little drops on the wax paper allow to cool well then put more or less depending on your grunging preference. YOu can dunk your cheap off white votive,or tapers in the wax to give a uniform color. allow to cool on the wax paper, then drizzle with your spoon over the top the second coat, YOu may want to use the pure crayon color melted for a darker drip look. YOu can use this on those battery tea lights, Dollar store pillars, tapers the list goes on, Its best to purchase an off white or white color to dip and coat. YOu can dip your salt dough ornies in this too. If you want a texture grunge, Simple whip up the wax with your beaters, It will foam up a bit , It will be lighter when you beat it, so you will need to add more crayons for a darker color. YOu can also add spices to the dipped, either sprinkle some whole cloves and cinnamon, over the fresh dipped for it to stick or simply add it to the melted wax, just keep stirring it constantly. Happy Grunging!
Primitive Sugar Cakes Brown Sugar and Water, spices that you have on hand, for scent and texture, If you dont have any you can just use the sugar and water. Depending on what you are making. I have an old star mold the copper ones I pour into .Its very large. All you need to do is add enough water to mix your brown sugar to a drip off your spoon consistancy.. and boil very hard for at least 5 minutes. Careful not to burn.. double boiler method is best. pour into a mold of your choice, allow to cool and wa la.. its awesome pantry cake. Now you can use muffin molds, for a sugar cone look, wrap up your finished product in old paper bag and tie with jute or string or homespun. make a hang tag. Money saving sugar tips, If you do not have brown sugar, and only white, add molasses to your white sugar, If you want a darker look add some molasses to this brown sugar and water before you boil. Use different shapes and molds to create nice displays, put a twig of sweet annie under the string you wrapped around the brown paper bag, with the tag for a real nice tough.
How to scent and age paper hang tags instant coffee hot water vanilla scent oil Simply make a strong solution, I mean 1/2 cup instant coffee with 2 cups hot water, If you want it lighter use less coffee, save this mixture in a glass jar with lid for next time, it doesnt spoil easily. use a shallow pie plate and dip your paper hang tags, you can get these at office supply stores, or make your own with manilla folders and punch hole and string. YOu can use this mixture for your muslin fabric and paper as well. If you want to scent these tags simply add a squirt of our scent oil to the mixture. I dont recommend spraying the pure oil on after as it stains the paper and hard to paint or write on it, makes the inks run. do it in the dipping stages. Now this scented mixture or unscented, just coffee, some vanilla and water, soak the hang tags in the mixture for a good 10 min or so. , or you can put this mixture in a spray bottle and lay them flat spray each side and spray your fabric, for big items. but soaking works the best. you then can dry the tags several ways, now drying makes the tags, as this is when it soaks into your fabric or tags.. and will leave an outline of the liquid mark depending how quick it dries. you can lie them on paper towel to absorb the excess mixture, or you can just use a cookie sheet or wax paper. or you can bake them in the oven on the lowest setting to dry them well and give them nice aged looked. Its your choice, A dehydrater often makes line marks same as with wire rack, but the rack marks look nice for writing fresh baked on them.. gingerbread men.. when your tags are completely dry, hand paint on them to make christmas tree ornaments, or pumpkins for tags, or make a string of them hanging from rusty bobwire for garland, or put one word on each one accross your mantel, or with the kids names. or use them for gifts, or just write handmade with love for a box of cookies or fudge, the list goes on Enjoy and e mail if ya have any questions... have fun..
